Sacher torte, my way..

Image
Hey guys.. It's me again showing up after a month. I know you all have a lot of questions why I stopped writing all of a sudden. The reason is simple, I lost my focus. I couldn't find anything to write about or even felt like talking to someone. I was so busy in doing my college work and stressing out about lot of things. Anyway, I finally got time for myself today. And I utilized that time by making sacher torte. Sacher torte is an austrain chocolate cake, with apricot jam filling and glazed with dark chocolate ganache. I started off by making chocolate cake. Now, the recipe of this chocolate cake is different from all the chocolate cakes I've ever made. I made meringue by whisking egg whites with granulated sugar. Since, I don't have a stand mixer or a hand mixer. I used the strength of my hand and with the help of balloon whisk, I managed to complete the task.  Later, I folded this mixture carefully into my chocolate cake base, feel free to use the box cake mixtu...

Evil tricks of life..!

Hello readers.. My College is about to end and I just can't get it out of my head so I decided to share my journey with you guys. I remember my first day of college, I was so nervous. All the time I was thinking about whether I'll make friends or not. Whether people will like me for who I'm or do I have to pretend like someone else.. What do I do.. what do I doo.. !!! I entered the class and I was the first one to arrive so I sat on the third bench, because who sits on the first bench on the very first day? Slowly, the room began to fill in with all the students. Everyone at that time arrived in groups. They all came in with their school buddies and I was the only one who came alone to this college. This reminded me how much I tried to convince my friends to take admission in the same college and in the same stream but they all had other plans, so I chose to come alone. The chances of making friends were zero at this point of the time. Couple months later, I was sti...

A reason to smile....

Hello readers.. Wazzzuuuupppp? Yeah... I realize that it's lame but I don't know but I just felt like saying it..  So, today was a great day for me.. You know why? because I achieved one another important thing in life. This is something that I wanted from a very long time. So here goes my story.. Yesterday, we were told by our college faculty that we have to visit another college for a job interview and the job was perfect, with good pay and also a lot of growth opportunities.. Everyone was excited and was instantly ready to face the interview.  I was really not interested in that job but I just wanted to have an experience of an interview. So, I tagged along too..  We were asked to report to college by 8 A.M. sharp and guess who was on time?  ME.. (I'm so punctual) I wandered in my college campus and found no one, corridors were eerily empty and I had never seen my college like this before.  Anyway, finally my only friend came and we sat there f...

Hello readers..!! Happy Holi.. I'm back today with another recipe that I've had tried with apples. To be honest, I hate apples. I have no reason to hate them but still sometimes we all dislike things without having a strong reason. I have the same thing for apples. I went shopping with my dad the other day and he bought lots of green apples and later no one at my home could eat them because of their tangy taste, at the store we were just smitten by their luscious green color. We had to do something so... I DECIDED TO MAKE AN APPLE PIE.  Of Course, whenever we think about making something with apples, we think about the pie. I googled the best recipe with no fails and got lots of different recipes. Somehow I stumbled upon a brilliant and different recipe and that was the recipe for... THE APPLE STREUSAL CAKE It's a brilliant recipe and takes a bit of our time and patience but totally worth it. The cake has three layers and I made some changes in th...

Connecting with the wild..

I was in my garden, on my phone, chatting with my friend about some unimportant stuff. Then I witnessed a shadow of a strange creature. For a moment, I thought maybe it's one of my cats then I went closer and saw a puppy eating all the leftover food from my cat's bowl. The puppy's bones were visible through her skin, she was totally undernourished. As soon as she saw me, she ran away. I knew she came inside from the vacant cornor of the gate, one can imagine how thin she was. I tried to follow her but she was so scared and just disappeared in seconds. Dogs are known for their friendly nature. They don't shy away when they see a human being. But this puppy was so afraid of a human touch that she would hide away or run away from us. This showed the kind of treatment she got from the people she ever met. Everytime I think about it, my heart breaks. I swore to myself, to help this puppy become healthy and happy. My neighbours don't feed stray dogs. They believe these ...

A new creation..

Somebody recently asked me "what would you give up, cheese or chocolates?" I said cheese instantly. Sorry cheese lovers. I've admitted it before and I'll admit it again, I'm obsessed with chocolates. They're a blessing for people like me. It can set everything right. So, yesterday I made something that I've been waiting for a long time. Since I have my non-stick cake tin now, I can make no bake cakes easily, without any hassle. Anyway, this recipe became one of my favorites ever. It only involves 3 basic steps, the first is making of the rich chocolate sauce, which is used for coating the biscuits, then assembling the cake & decorating it. The chocolate sauce:- Take a saucepan, put 7-8 cubes of butter, sieve in 55 gms of cocoa powder, 190 gms of powdered sugar. Now add 250 ml of full fat milk. You can replace milk with water if you want. But it tastes better with milk in my opinion, forget about the calories just care about the outcome. Now switch...

A big change

Someone wise once said "key to a happy life is good, nutritious food and exercise" . Well, let me tell you something, whoever said this is goddamn right! I actually feel a lot happier than before. I feel positive and active all day long. I don't doze off in a boring lecture or just pretend to listen. I'm literally gaining something out of those lectures. Overall I feel good and healthy. There was a time when I used to put multiple alarms, swore to myself that I will get up early at any cost. But I knew I was just kidding myself. I knew tomorrow, as soon as the alarm bell rings, I'll switch it off. I lied and cheated myself over and over again. I lied to myself about a lot of things. Now lying is a sin, we all know that but we lie to ourselves without even being aware of it. The moment you say "I'll start exercising from tomorrow" or "just a sliver of a cake, I won't eat it all", ALL LIES!! Because you know there's another excuse...
